The cure for anything is salt water...

We have just returned from a holiday on the Kent coast.  It was a week of blissful weather, our patient wait for the cold and snow to disappear was rewarded with blue skies and warmed skin for the first time in a long long time!  There's nowhere quite like the Great British seaside when it's sunny!

It was a week of ambling, exploring and recharging.... here are a few snapshots...

I came home with a notebook filled with ideas and am very excited to get started on some projects I have in mind...

A storage tin makeover

I realised that I was in much need of some storage tins for crafty bits and bobs so decided on a little DIY effort to prettify some regular food tins.  This idea is by no means original, I cannot take an ounce of credit for it; I have seen it on a few blogs and all over Pinterest, but it's a simple and effective way of brightening up some otherwise rather boring objects.

It's a speedy little project (right up my street!) but so effective, don't you think!

Here's the know how...

Take some empty, clean food tins.  See how sad and in need of a makeover they are, poor things...

Choose some pretty paper.  I picked this up in Paperchase a few weeks ago.  Fabric would work pretty well too.

Measure the height of your tin.  If it has a lip on it, measure just under it.  Measure around the tin, adding approximately 1cm extra as an overlap
Cut the paper to size

Add a few lengths of double sided sticky tape to the can at regular intervals

Carefully wrap the paper round the can, making sure you keep it straight all the way round.  Secure the overlap with a strip of double sided tape and ta-dah, one prettified tin!

Then ta-dah, ta-dah and ta-dah - four finished tins!

It's thoroughly addictive, be warned!

If you try this, I'd love to see the results!

It's here... ssshhh, don't scare it away...

Can you feel it in the gentle warmth?  Can you hear it in the happy birdsong?  Can you smell it in freshly mown grass?  Spring is here, lovely people!

We braved the long winter and were rewarded today by a beautiful Spring day where anything felt possible.  Even if this day was the only one of its kind we have for a little while, it has given me the welcome boost and warm bones I needed!

I visited a craft fair with my Mum yesterday and picked up these lovely fabrics.  I haven't decided exactly what I'll do with them yet, for now I will just enjoy their loveliness

Have a great week, Jo x
